Outback has the largest cabin to date with improvements in leg room, shoulder room and cargo floor room. Overall boot volume is 522- litres with the rear seats in place and 1267- litres with the seats folded flat. The rear of the Outback now also features a height – adjustable cover so that owners are still able to cover even taller items in the rear. A 12V power socket is also found in the rear cargo area. In a first ever technology introduction, the rear tailgate now offers a hands free opening function.

The Subaru Outback Field and Touring version are both offered with a 2.5litre direct injection Boxer® Engine. Power is 138kW at 5800rpm and maximum torque is 245Nm at 3400-4600rpm. The engine is mated to a lightweight Lineartronic® CVT transmission. Fuel consumption is 7,3l/100km on the combined cycle, 9.2l/100km on the urban cycle and 6,2l/100km on the extra-urban cycle.
